Right after the beginning of free agency the Los Angeles Lakers signed Damian jones to a two-year deal.

NBA Free Agency Rumors: Lakers To Sign Damian Jones To Two-Year Contract

With the player option Damian Jones is a 611 big man he has a seven-foot four wingspan, and he's only 27 years old and I think with signing Damian jones the lakers were looking to add an athletic lob threat, big man next to Anthony Davis, I mean Damian Jones is a guy who's going to convert efficiently around the rim, he isn't a guy who's going to space the floor much for you but i think that his ability to roll to the rim could be something that works well alongside Anthony Davis.

Because we've seen in the past with a front court of JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard how well having two traditional, big men next to Anthony Davis can work, if it's executed correctly and that time it was the lakers ended up winning the 2020 nba championship, and looking at Damian Jones stats for this past season, this was the best year of his career he averaged a little over eight points about four and a half rebounds and shot about 66 from the field, his numbers were up pretty substantially from previous seasons.

And he was a guy who averaged almost 10 a game over this past year, so that scoring was pretty solid and then the lakers, also added Thomas Bryant in the front court, he's another young big man a guy, who's had some injury issues but when he was last healthy he not only was shooting efficiently from the field, but he was stepping out and shooting the three efficiently.

He ended up shooting 40 from three in the 2019-20 season and thomas Bryant is another guy who can finish efficiently around the rim and rebound and when you look back to the lakers front court of JaVale McGee,  Dwight Howard maybe the lakers are trying to replicate that adding two big men next to Anthony Davis, who are good around the rim just like javale and Dwight except thomas Bryant, is also going to be able to bring that versatility of being able to space the floor.

Both Damian jones and Thomas Bryant are younger than javale and Dwight were when they were with the lakers we saw over this past season, with Dwight returning to Los Angeles, he didn't get too many minutes in the rotation I feel like he ended up playing solid for the team but the lakers just had a tough year this past year they were experimenting with quite a few lineups and ultimately, Dwight really didn't get a ton of run in Lakers.

Maybe having two new younger centers is exactly what la needs because we saw over this past season how signing veteran talent can go wrong although the guys that the lakers signed had impressive resumes throughout the season some of them became unplayable in the rotation which led to an overall lack of depth and the lakers going to a 37-year-old LeBron James for very heavy minutes.
