We're going to be talking about the lakers mistake when it came to a Russell Westbrook trade because it really looked like they could have made this trade happen there was palpable optimism that an agreement can be struck between the two sides this off season at least at that time obviously things have completely gone different than many would have expected and now the lakers are looking at another season with Russell Westbrook in the lineup and really where the lakers went wrong is they wanted Seth Curry instead of Joe Harris although i think Seth Curry could have been more of an impact player for the lakers Joe Harris is still a sharpshooter.

And he would have been a good fit in la and then you would also have Kyrie Irving an all-star guard who would fit well alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis you would get so much shooting in this trade scenario, it's even been reported that Russell Westbrook is very open to a trade so if the lakers would have back then made that trade they would have made their roster significantly better they would have added a lot more shooting and there still could have been room to make other moves.

Because they still could have made the move for patrick Beverley by trading Talen Horton tucker because in that trade scenario tht could have still been on the roster and when the lakers signed LeBron James to an extension lebron still wanted kyrie on the roster and then the lakers were finally willing to give up two future first round picks in a Kyrie Irving trade because LeBron James was committed to the lakers long term then Kevin Durant returned to the team and that basically closed the door on the lakers trying to pull off a trade for kyrie because when Kevin Durant requested a trade it helped the lakers in their pursuit of Kyrie Irving but ultimately the nets were able to mend things and work everything out and now they're running it back.

But if the lakers had taken advantage at the time they could have added both Kyrie Irving and Joe Harris and that would have changed everything for them Joe Harris is one of the best sharp shooters in the league Kyrie Irving is one of the best guards in the league, and he would have been motivated to have a good season.

Because he's playing for a long term contract keep in mind even at that time he had opted into his player option and would still be on an expiring deal, so he'd be motivated to have a good year in la so that he could earn a payday it really could have been a great scenario for both kyrie and the lakers because it seemed like kyrie wanted to be in lakers.
