Javante McCoy, Fabian White Jr, Dwayne bacon, Bryce Hamilton and LJ Figueroa and the only one between them who even got playing time was Dwayne bacon.
But what's the point of doing that and how does it benefit their team and well the main point of doing that is to gain their G League rights because after giving a player a training camp deal.
They are then able to attain them to their g-league team now I'm sure they would have liked to see a few of them in action before waving them but unfortunately there's only so much time before training camp ends with that being said though there are four of them who remain on their team right now and all of them are worth mentioning too with those four being Matt Ryan, J Huff,Shaquille Harrison and now need Pierre Louis at this point you should probably be familiar with Matt Ryan and Jay Huff.
But Shaquille Harrison and Nate Pier Lewis might be new with both of them being relatively recent pickups and then simply waving him to retain him later on they want to evaluate him on the court, and they did that by giving him playing time against the Warriors it may not have been for very much, but he was able to get in for around seven total minutes.
Given that it was not garbage time they quite obviously want to evaluate him that really should not surprise you either Shaquille Harrison is the reigning g-league Defensive Player of the Year, and we all know how much Darvin Ham loves defense Shaquille Harrison has never quite been able to reach his potential on offense but there is no denying his ability to play defense and if the Lakers have a deal with an injury to their back court.
I would not be shocked to see Harrison be given an opportunity however another guy who'll be fighting for that opportunity is Napier Lewis and much like Shaquille Harrison his calling card is undoubtedly defense, and they are definitely familiar with him too he played for the Lakers g-league team last season.
Then joined their summer league team as well he might not make a big impression on offense nor will he make your jaw drop with his stats either, but he is not a player that can be evaluated off that alone and after watching him play for only a few minutes you'll probably be well aware of that to the guy's the definition of an energy in every player.
One you can always rely on to play hard and if we're talking about defense then Napier Lewis is an absolute Menace I almost feel bad for your posting bald handlers when he is defending them as he can definitely be regarded as a pest he will frequently play full court defense and will pretty much be glued to any player he is defending which I imagine would stand out to a coach like Darvin ham unfortunately for Pierre Louis though he's never been a good three-point shooter and for a team like the Lakers who need three-point shooting.
I kind of doubt he would be a player they'd sign although he could definitely be a player who is skipping consideration if they deal with an injury or maybe a year from now when they're building a different team but for now he will probably be simply a backup plan for them between Shaquille Harrison and Nate Pierre Louis though it's become clear that they are prioritizing defense not only on their NBA team.
But also on their G League team too to wrap everything up here though the primary reason for why they're signing and then immediately waving players is pretty much to retain their G League rights but for a guy like Matt Ryan Shaquille Harrison and maybe Nate Pierre Louis they are also trying to get a better look at them and possibly even give them a contract if they perform well with that being said though
